Why is MEDermis Laser Clinic the best option for tattoo removal?

MEDermis Laser Clinic has been in business for over 10 years and performed over 250,000 treatments. Because our primary focus is tattoo removal, we are the Tattoo Removal Specialists™. There are other doctor’s offices and clinics where you can get a tattoo removed, but because they’re usually focused on a variety of other cosmetic services, they don’t have the same level of experience or training that our employees get. Furthermore, we offer the industry’s best tattoo removal guarantee when you purchase a package. If your tattoo takes fewer sessions to remove than we estimate, we refund your money. If your tattoo is still visible after you’ve completed the number of treatments you paid for, we keep treating it for free! So it’s a win-win for you. Visit our About page to learn more on why MEDermis Laser Clinic is the leader in laser tattoo removal.

Does the PicoSure Laser Work Quicker on Tattoos than Other Lasers?

As is often the case with cosmetic procedures, everyone is looking for the silver bullet that will drastically cut back on the time it takes to get a tattoo removed. The latest example in the tattoo removal industry that people are talking about is the arrival of the PicoSure laser.

It is quite difficult to find independent articles on the Picoseond laser technology. Here is one article, published in the (too) serious magazine “Journal of the Laser and Health Academy”, Volume 2013 Issue Number 0ne, page S09-S10.

Here is the conclusion:
“In conclusion, the published literature and our preliminary results seem to indicate that current “picosecond” lasers are not expected to have a significantly better tattoo clearance effect in comparison with the “gold standard” Q-switched nanosecond tattoo lasers. Taking into account also the current technology limitations of picosecond lasers, it is our opinion that top-of-the-line Q-switched nanosecond lasers will remain the devices of choice for tattoo removal.”

What are some of the most common benefits of laser tattoo removal?

During laser tattoo removal, the laser is used to selectively target and destroy the tattoo without damaging the surrounding tissue, which greatly decreases scarring. Lasers have differing wavelengths and pulse durations, and different laser beams are absorbed by specific colors, allowing laser professionals to choose the precise combination of lasers for the depth and color of a particular tattoo as well as for multi-colored tattoos. After treatment the skin is more uniform and natural in appearance, although some changes in skin texture and color are unavoidable.

When you come for your free consultation, we will measure your tattoo and let you know how much each treatment will cost. We are in business to make this procedure as affordable as possible. How many treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?

Unfortunately, it is difficult to predict exactly how many treatments it will take to work. To see complete results, it could take as little as 3 treatments for an amateur tattoo or as many as 5 to 8 treatments for a professionally applied tattoo. Certain pigments are easier to remove, with florescent colors being the least responsive to treatment. The type of ink used may also affect the results, since some inks create a paradoxical reaction, causing the skin to become darker instead of lighter. Our staff can advise you on what to expect based on your particular tattoo.

How far apart are the treatments?

After your first treatment, you will typically schedule each additional treatment 4-8 weeks apart.

What will my skin look like after each treatment?

Your skin will be red and feel like it has mild sunburn. There may also be some bruising. With certain colors, such as red, there may be mild blistering that usually heals in about a week. The sunburn feeling typically goes away after a couple of hours, but your skin does need time to heal in between treatments. After each treatment you will be given detailed instructions on how to care for your treated area.

Does it leave scars?

The Spectra Laser by Lutronic, used at all MEDermis Laser Clinic locations, leaves virtually no scars, however, those with scarring disorders, such as keloids, may have an increased risk of forming a scar. To reduce the risks involved in this procedure, carefully follow all of our instructions, both before and after the procedures.

Will the laser tattoo removal hurt?

When asked if laser treatment hurts, patients who have gone through the procedure vary in their responses. Some say it hurts, but most say it is not that bad. Before, during and after each of your treatments, the laser technician will apply a very unique numbing technique that we have developed over the years. This technique is very safe and applied directly on the tattoo to help to numb the area. It is a very safe and quick way of preparing the skin for the laser procedure. However, you will still feel the laser on your skin when your tattoo is being removed. Patients have reported that the feeling can be compared to a rubber band snapping on your skin. Almost all of our staff members have been through the procedure. We will do all possible to keep it comfortable throughout the process.

How long will my appointment take?

Your first appointment should not take more than one hour, if you decide to have your first treatment that day. The time it takes for the actual laser tattoo removal is very quick, but we also need to account for time to fill out paperwork and provide you with a free consultation. Follow up appointments generally take 15-30 minutes on average, all depending on the size of the tattoo(s) we are treating.

Who will do my laser tattoo removal?

The laser tattoo removal will be performed by a licensed laser specialist who is trained and certified to do this type of procedure. Our Medical Staff will review and maintain all patient files. If complications arise, our Medical Staff will be available to consult with you.

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
